BELGRADE, SERBIA — February 23, 2009 — Serbia is the regions’ leader in air taxi services, with five companies providing them as well as the opportunity for private clients to rent governmental planes.

Aircrafts from the government’s fleet can be used for flights to any part of Europe, Asia or Africa, the Serbian radio B92 reported. Well-off clients can hire planes that have carried Slobodan Milošević, Vojislav Koštunica and Boris Tadić.

In case they are already occupied, five other companies in Serbia offer air taxi services. The largest one – Prince Aviation, has 11 aircrafts in its fleet.

“The volume of work is shown by the how much our fleet has grown in the last years,” Vladimir Kovačević from Prince Aviation told the media. “The company started with three aircrafts in 2006 and now it has seven, three of which are new, delivered in 2008, and we are happy that these are the first new planes in Serbia for the last 20 years.”

According to the report, most of the clients of the air taxi services in Serbia are wealthy local businessmen, but foreigners use them as well, such as music stars, including Kylie Minogue, Robert Plant and Jamiroquai.

Another of the Serbian air taxi companies, Jat Airways AVIO Taxi, in 2004 started operating scenic tours for tourists flying around Belgrade city centre.
